Robert Ernenwein became a member of the California Bar in 1984. Between 1984 and 1987, he was employed as a Deputy District Attorney with the Los Angles District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure with the District Attorneys Office, he acted as prosecutor in over 150 felony and misdemeanor jury trials.  His cases ranged from driving under the influence to rape and murder.  He negotiated to settlement approximately 1500 misdemeanor and felony matters.  In 1987, Robert Ernenwein entered private practice with Bruce McGregor, who was also a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney.  For the past 23 years, he has been in private criminal defense practice representing hundreds of individuals in misdemeanor and felony cases throughout Southern California.

Robert is presently certified as a specialist in criminal law by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization, being so certified since 2003:

In 2005, Mr. Ernenwein was retained to represent a man with no criminal record accused of molesting several girls on a sports team he coached.  His investigation of the case lead to his belief in his client's factual innocence. Two lengthy trials occurred in 2007 and 2008.  Dozens of witnesses were called by both the prosecution and defense; the trials required approximately two months total to conclude.  After two juries failed to reach verdicts, the case was dismissed.

Robert Ernenwein is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, and the California Public Defenders Association. He graduated from Manhattan College in New York City in 1981, and from Whittier College School of Law in 1984. While in law school, Mr. Ernenwein was a member of the Law Review, the Moot Court Honors Board, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Society. He was also Whittier Law School's Student Bar Association President in 1984. After graduation, he was elected President of the Alumni Association in 1993 and voted Whittier College School of Law Alumni of the Year for 1993. Mr. Ernenwein was a regular legal commentator for FOX News, KTLA Los Angeles television, and Court TV. In 2005, he was elected a Southern California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine:
